Shelter building, Ice Creams and Gorges

We've had a busy couple of  days at the centre, with a visit from a group of primary school children. The centre has been a hive of activity ( hearding kittens springs to mind),  its been great to have a group so full of energy, enthusiasm and wonder.
Tuesday was spent on Anglesey, specifically Newborough, shelter building
A shelter or a log cabin?

Windy times on the beach.

Shelter building briefing.

A more rustic approach to shelter building.

The finished product.

After battling with the elements ( rain, hail & sleet)- the group were pretty cold....
BUT not too cold for Ice Cream in Llanberis
Never too cold for Ice Cream in Llanberis

Wednesday saw a change of scene & weather, with it being far less windy than expected.
We headed over to Gierionydd Gorge for a full day of gorge scrambling, Tyrolean traverses and some very excited children.
Making our way up the gorge.

The professional approach to Tyrolean traverses.

Sam, spotting one of the group over a more difficult step.

Success! Nearly at the end.
What a brilliant day! She is certainly enjoying the gorge walk ( its not as big as it looks!)
